Per-tooth findings on a Triadan odontogram, signed and locked by a veterinarian.

Dental charting records findings tooth by tooth on a Triadan odontogram, keeps the exam history on the patient, and locks the chart when a veterinarian signs it. Dental is part of the clinical layer, so it is available on Intelligence and Practice. Clinics that do not want it in the sidebar can hide it from the sidebar section switcher.

Starting a dental chart

  1. Open the patient

Go to the patient record and open the Dental tab. The Dental page in the sidebar lists every chart across the clinic, drafts first, then signed.

  2. Choose the dentition

Start a new exam and pick Adult (permanent), Deciduous (puppy / kitten) or Mixed (transitional). A clinic default can be set under Settings → Dental.

  3. Record findings

Add a finding for each affected tooth: the Triadan tooth number (for example 108), the surface (B, L, M, D or O), a condition, a severity, a treatment plan and notes. Use General mouth notes for overall periodontal grade, occlusion or gingival index.

Findings you can record

Tooth numbers use modified Triadan numbering: 1xx is upper right, 2xx upper left, 3xx lower left and 4xx lower right.

Dictating the exam

Click the dictation button to speak or photograph the exam. The AI drafts one finding per tooth and a set of mouth notes. Nothing is final: review every tooth and edit or remove what is wrong before you sign. AI drafting is a metered AI action.

Signing the chart

Click Sign chart when the exam is complete. Signing needs dental.sign and locks the chart with your name and the time. If a chart has no findings, Chartling warns you and asks you to sign only if the exam confirmed a clean mouth. Editing findings and mouth notes needs dental.write. Viewing charts needs patient.timeline.read.
