The home page shows all pets linked to your account. Click a pet's name or photo to open their record.
-
Browse by section
Use the tabs across the top of the pet profile to switch between Visits, Medications, Vaccines, Labs, Documents, and Invoices. If your clinic runs a wellness plan or membership program, you'll also see that under your account.
-
Download what you need
On any visit, document, or invoice row, click the download icon to save it as a PDF. Discharge summaries are attached to each completed visit.
The discharge summary is the owner-facing version of the visit. It contains the diagnosis, instructions, and medications. The full clinical SOAP note (subjective, objective, assessment, plan) is internal to the clinic and is not shared in the portal.
What's available in the portal
| Section | What you see | What you don't see |
|---|---|---|
| Visits | Date, reason for visit, discharge summary, attending vet | Full SOAP note, internal clinical notes |
| Medications | Active prescriptions, dosing instructions, refill notes | Controlled substance dispense logs |
| Vaccines | Vaccine name, date administered, next due date | Lot numbers, internal vaccine records |
| Labs | Test name and date, plus a plain-language summary of what the result means once your vet has reviewed it | Raw analyte values and reference ranges; results your vet hasn't released yet |
| Documents | Files you upload for the clinic (vaccine records from another vet, release forms, etc.), plus documents your clinic shares back: invoices, estimates, lab reports, prescriptions, vaccine certificates, discharge summaries, and signed agreements. Anything from your clinic is marked "From your clinic." | Internal clinic notes and any staff-facing document your clinic hasn't chosen to share (e.g. an internal lab requisition) |
| Invoices | Itemized invoices, payment status, payment history | Internal billing notes |
FAQ
All records from when your clinic started using Chartling are available. If your clinic recently migrated to Chartling, older records may not be in the system yet. Contact the clinic for historical records they haven't imported.
Records appear as soon as the vet signs and finalizes the visit. There's no separate delay after that. If the vet hasn't gotten to signing the note yet, it simply won't show in the portal until they do. If it's been a few days, contact your clinic.
Individual records can be downloaded one at a time. For a complete bulk export, contact your clinic and ask them to prepare a records export. They can do this from their Chartling admin panel.
The Documents tab shows files you or a household member uploaded, plus documents your clinic has shared with you. These carry a "From your clinic" badge. If something looks unfamiliar and isn't marked as being from the clinic, it was likely added by another household member on the same account. Check with them first, then contact the clinic if it's still unclear.
